Data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed that from January to August, the total profit of industrial enterprises above designated size nationwide was 4,655.82 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 11.7%. The decline narrowed by 3.8 percentage points from January to July. From January to August, industrial enterprises above designated size and state-controlled enterprises achieved a total profit of 1.58416 billion yuan, down 16.5% YoY. The total profit of joint-stock enterprises dropped 12.1% from last year to 3.40184 billion yuan. Foreign-invested and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan-invested enterprises gained a total profit of 11092.7 billion, a decrease of 11.1% YoY. And that of private enterprises was 1.24872 billion yuan, a decrease of 4.6%. In August, the profits of industrial enterprises above the designated size turned from falling to increasing, with a year-on-year growth of 17.2%.
